The return of fall brings one thing to my mind: football. Whether you’re tailgating or just enjoying the company of friends while watching the game, food is a big part of any football party. Serving finger food is easy to prepare and eat, but can sometimes be boring. Making mini salads and sandwiches on kabob sticks makes food easy to snack on and gives your guests a free hand (plus no utensils are required)!

Here are a few easy and fun combinations.

  • Turkey, brie (or Swiss cheese), and apples
  • Chunks of baguette, red pepper, mozzarella cheese, and prosciutto (or ham)
  • Cucumber, artichoke hearts, feta cheese, and tomatoes
  • Cucumber, feta cheese, tomatoes, and olives
  • Grapes, Monterey Jack cheese (or cheddar), and strawberries

Try combining sweet and savory flavors for a fun twist on traditional sandwiches! These are fun for kids to make and eat as well!

Tip: Most grocery stores now have artichoke hearts, olives, and sometimes even cubes of feta cheese on the salad bar, which is a good way to purchase only as much as you need.

Get creative in how you present the snacks too. Try sticking them in a canning jar, wide mouth bottles, or in different color combinations. Everyone will be impressed by the clever idea and have fun while eating!
